THE DRAMA BUTTON!

For all of life's unnecessary drama's. Time this right with your speakers up and it's very funny.

JJ Abrams talks mystery

Following on from our "What's in the box?" post  this is the talk by JJ Abrams. Motionographer pointed out that this is what could have inspired the short film.

JJ Abrams himself, is very engaging and has a nice take on the idea of mystery. He talks about why he loves this particular theme, and how he makes it work in his projects.

He seems to really get popular culture and cinema audiences. All his work has this pace which keeps you firmly gripped to your seat. He understands the audience today get bored very quickly, which is why Lost, Alias, Mission Impossible 3 and Cloverfield feel like they never let off the accelerator.

We haven't seen the new Star Trek yet, but if the trailer is anything to go by it will be one hell of a cinematic ride!

What's in the box?

A very JJ Abrams inspired short film by Tim Smit and Thibaut Niels. Hints of Cloverfield and Lost all the way through this. It's good though considering it is an amateur film!

Are you a Mother lover?

Here's the follow up to Dick in a box by Justin Timberblake and Andy Samburg. Could this be better than their holiday present frolics? As it happens, we actually think it is. The deadpan delivery, music, casting and costumes all make this one of the best SNL shorts we've seen.

Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone seem to be taking behind the scenes roles in directing and writing respectively and letting Andy Samberg do most of the work in front of camera. Timberblake is also proving that he can do comedy as well as music and acting. Is there nothing this guy can't do?

So The Lonely Island plough on and continue to make some of the best comic skits in the USA!

Changing Mobile Forever

The spoken word (cool sort of poetry) technique is used in the new 3 mobile TV advert. It features Jason who sings with the group Bugz in the Attic.

Film the blanks

Here are some great graphical pieces based on well know and not so well known films. Film the blanks is one man's abstract experiment with a variety of film posters. His website is here.

Some of the best Facebook groups

This cropped up in conversation today with our CD. We had to quickly go on the hunt for some of the weirder and funnier Facebook groups.

Some of them were so good we thought we'd share.

I use my cellphone to see in the dark.

I flip my pillow to get the cold side.

Enough of poking, let's just have sex.

People who always have to spell their names for other people.

For those who have ever pushed a "pull" door.

Join this group, invite all your friends, and then leave.

If 100,000 people join my wife will let me call my son Spider-pig.
