You like this

So Facebook begins its complete takeover of the web. The Like button is now the standard for anything you want to share with other people.

Quoted from Tech crunch

"Facebook’s new Like button was announced last week, which allows users to “Like” any piece of content on an outside site with one click. Those likes are then transported back to Facebook and integrated into users’ profiles."

Levi have already integrated the 'Like' button on their website and I'm sure other shopping sites will follow suit.

Read more here and watch what you decide to 'like'.

Is there a point when we’re just going to lose track?

I was thinking about my ‘digital life’ this morning. All the websites and social utilities I use on a day today basis or now and again.

So I started to list them…

Facebook
Netvibes
Flickr
Ebay
Nike +

Then I looked at my bookmark bar and knew this list wasn’t going to be a small one.

So, I continued.

Myspace
Yahoo mail
Itunes account
Nokia music store account
Skyfire
Hotmail
Igoogle
Amazon
Paypal
My online bank account
Nokia Ovi file sharing
Qik video sharing
Digg
Youtube
1,2,3 Reg
Blogger
Ticketmaster
Last minute
Chain reaction cycles

As you can see there’s a lot. This isn’t even including all the email and RSS feeds I’m subscribed to.

There’s so much here and I seem to be signing up to more and more as the weeks go by.

I almost feel like I’ll keep signing up to websites and services and not know which one to use.

Shall I use Facebook or Myspace? Ovi or Flickr? Netvibes or igoogle, Last minute or Ticketmaster?

It's like I’m being spread too thin online. Where do I focus my attention? I've got all these services at my disposal and now i'm not sure which one to use.

Wouldn't it be good if they all just merged into one supreme website? And you got one user name and password and all of these websites functions.

Facebook connect seems to be the start of this idea. It's already started to be implemented into other platforms. It's quite basic at the moment, but i'm sure it will get more advanced.

Could we co-join everywhere we go online?

Hopefully someone will figure it out and then i might be able to get my 'digital life' back on track.

This is a pretty visualisation using Google Earth and Twitter. It shows people’s 'Tweets' when the snow fell a couple of months ago.

There are a whole host of digital ideas yet to be implemented using Twitter and visualising what people are talking about. For instance, a brand could do a stunt and could see who was ‘Tweeting’ about it on Twitter. The information could then be visualised and used as branded content. Obviously, the stunt would have to be huge to get lots of people Twittering about it. But hopefully the point comes across.

Skittles touched upon this idea by pulling in all Twitter ‘Tweets’ that contained the word Skittles. However, what people were saying could have been taken and visualized in cool and funny ways. There could have been some crazy info to base posters, TV or digital ideas on.

It would be interesting to see a similar visualization of people ‘Tweeting’ about the protests today. It could be funny to see protester twitters against police twitters, if anybody in the Met actually is on Twitter.

Riotman23: I’ve just been hit by a riot van! Ow!

Metdude: Another window of RBS has just been smashed!

Riotman23: There are more news cameramen down here than protesters.

Metdude: Go away all of you.

Riotman23: The cameramen have just started protesting!

Metdude: Cameras are flying everywhere! Just arrested a whole News crew.

Anyway, this video just shows that information people are creating can be made visually interesting.

Online and offline and online again!!!

We’ve just finished working on a great pitch. Digy Roy has been away so I’ve been a lone creative for the end of it. But it was still a lot of fun.

The client has to stay anonymous for now, but they are on my list of “cool brands” and if this work saw the light of day it would be a massive cross channel idea.

Working on this pitch campaign the last few weeks made me remember of past “massive” online/offline campaigns. The one in particular that I really like is Year Zero that 42 Entertainment did for Nine Inch Nails. It got the grand prix at Cannes, which it honestly did deserve.

The overview can be found here and offers a quick look at what was a totally immersive experience for the audience. It actually eclipses their Dark Knight viral efforts.

The online/offline experience was amazing, flash drives hidden at gigs, CD’s that reacted to body heat to reveal a message, hidden phone numbers, websites, events, posters and a mini underground political type movement. This campaign had it all and then even more!

What was cool about the idea was it was scaleable. It allowed the audience to delve into this Year Zero world as far as they wanted to go. They could still get a good experience by just buying the CD and getting the hidden content from that.

It's also really cool to see something that takes you online to offline and online again. The two worlds merge to become something bigger than the channels you decide to use. it does help that the campaign was an album promo which people like, i can't see Year Zero working for a washing powder.

This kind of stuff is so inspiring to see. I reckon this is what digital is heading towards on a regular basis, well for the brands that have a very loyal audience and are deemed "cool" e.g Nike, Apple etc.

Brand awareness that hits every channel and allows the audience to decide whether they take it on or not. They could see a poster that would take them to the internet on their phone, keeping them involved until they access the site at home. Cool stuff!

Conversations from the inside

This is a bonkers video for the Nike Women campaign "Here i am". It features Nicola Sander, but her insides get more of a staring role.

This short is so intriguing as well as a little disturbing. Considering it's aimed at women it seems a little removed from the main audience. But it looks cool and has had loads of money thrown at it, and that's why we like it.

Bring on the bigger budgets (or should be trumpets?)

Watch it here.

GO TEAM GB!

The monkey has nothing to do with this post, we typed in shocked into google and this seemed like the funniest image to put up.
