Christmas Tagging

Add a library of words and symbols and you can do whatever you want!

A creative effort with photography

Expect to see a lot of people getting creative with the new facebook layout over the coming weeks.

Remember the images you tag need to be 97 pixels by 63 pixels to work at that size. Also tag backwards if you want to create a sentence.

There's more visual ways of hacking your profile page here.

Daft Punk's Derezzed

The official video. Inspired by the look of the original film. Love it.

Fancy being famous?

Keenan Cahill with special guest. One of the weirdest Youtube double acts i've seen.

Success in front of the camera isn't easy. TV, film and the music industry are notoriously hard to break into.

The biggest reason is you usually have to fit in with a certain type of look or image. There are lots of talented people out there. But looking right makes getting in front of camera much easier.

However, We're noticing Youtube is become a place for people to get in front of a camera, and becoming quite successful in their own unique way. It seems looking a little weird on Youtube is a virtue. People who fit the perfect looking person bracket seem dull next to some of these dudes.

Take the video above from from Keenan Cahill. He simple mouths along to popular songs and then manages to get over 7 million views a time.

The draw is his look. A normal, nerdy 15 year old in his bedroom.

If he went for a presenting or acting role he wouldn't have been given the light of day. But starting on Youtube and building a fan base now means he's getting on these mainstream shows.

And good on him. I bet advertisers are banging on his door to use him.

Youtube is increasingly becoming a place to make your name. Don't worry if you don't look like a film or TV star.

Because Youtube welcomes you with open arms.

Crack a joke

Since it's now December, we're going to give the posts a bit of a festive theme.

It's all about the one line jokes today. You know, the kind you get in the crackers!

Check out this comedian Stewart Francis. One of the best one line comedians i've seen. He even makes Frankie Boyle laugh!

There will be some good cracker jokes happening on our twitter today as well.

THE BIKE DISCO

So it's dark. Alot of cyclists are being knocked off their bike because they haven't got enough lights on their bike.

To make cyclist aware of this and change their attitude to 'lights are cool' I present...

THE BIKE DISCO.

Cyclist decorate their bike with loads of flashing lights and ride around a route that's got DJ's and music stages to stop at and DISCO!!!

The more lit up your bike the better. There will even be a prize for the brightest bike.

This would take place at a open space with cycle routes, probably a park.

It's the first roller disco for bikes. YEAH!

If i get this working next year...i hope everyone will come!

Caught up on Twitter

Ask a few people around your office if they are on Twitter and they’ll probably say ‘No’.

It’s amazing how everyone seems to talk about it, but rarely anyone uses it.

I think in our department of eighteen, four people actually use it. And one only knows how to use it really well.

Don’t get me wrong Twitter is very useful. It's a great tool. And that's what it should be.

It’s not the core of an idea.

There is one exception to this. Best Buy’s Twelp Force. However, I don’t think they decided to definitely use twitter.

Twelp force came from the core thought of how could Best Buy make their helpful employee’s even better. Twitter was the right platform for this idea, as it gave everyone at Best Buy a voice.

It seems simple now, but I bet you CP&B came up with lots of other ways of executing it.

We've found that when you work for a digital led agency you can get very focused on new digital mediums, innovative new stuff and just get trapped in a bit of a bubble.

"Everyone uses Twitter." (Yes, I think i actually said that and then got a savage talking too from my creative other half)

You actually forget that the wider audience aren’t subjected to everything you might be.

What you must not forget is that ideas really haven’t changed.

It’s all about starting with a truth about what makes us human.

Once you’ve got that then you can execute it in the right way for the brand, and the audience.

So remember, ideas don’t start with Twitter. They end up on there.

Ford S-Max - Get more out of life

This Ford projection mapping idea is piss poor compared to this attempt below. What's with the actors? It's just weird. You loose the spectacle in the direction too.

But this one has nailed it. Truly stunning and the execution has been carefully considered.

Cool and the Mark and Spencer gang

Had to post this cause it's cool.

Awesome footage from a Go Pro camera. These things are tiny and come with various mounts for helmets, surf boards and bikes. I've used one and the footage you get is awesome!

I also want to point out this new Marks and Spencers ad.

I really want to hate this new TV spot. But i can't....what's that you say Marks and Sparks advert? Buy your clothes and dance the night away like celeb's who i aspire to be like. Ok then.

Advertising...Fucking hell!!!

MINI GETAWAY

Great digital idea time boys and girls.

This is a location based game for Mini. Digital Example's blog calls it a 'high tech version of tag.' Simply download the app and try and find the virtual Mini that is on another persons phone. If you get within 50 meters of them you'll take the virtual mini off them and be the target for everyone else.

More info here.

INSTAGRAM - An app worth getting

Instagrams app on itunes

Select your filter and share everywhere instantly

This is a nice application that takes the iphone Hipsmatic app one step further. Instagram allows you to share your photographs and location across all your social networks simultaneously. i.e facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Four Square.

The one problem with Hipsmatic is that you had to upload to each social feed separately. This takes time, which a lot of people haven't got.

They want to become the visual Twitter. Which sounds like it could work. That is, if the person taking the photographs is interesting.

If Martin Parr used it, people would follow it. If Dave from Swindon used it... no one would probably follow it.

More on Instagram from the NY times blog here and here on MWA.

French Connection Youtique

This is really nice use of the interactive Youtube video feature. A stylist shows you outfits and you can click on the video and buy them. It's a great for a clothes brand and i can see Levi and Diesel adding this function in as standard. It just makes sense to be able to click the video and buy the clothes. In fact any product could use this, and probably should.

Also, I'm a sucker for a portmanteau. Youtique.... you clever people you.

Have a look at the channel here.

Oh shit! People really do use Twitter

The Lucky Counter

UTweet

We've put off using Twitter for a while. We've always said 'Who uses Twitter? Really?".

Seems, quite a few people do. We found out via Mashable that there's now over 145 million Twitter registered users.

Well we've eaten our words, joined, and realised that this Tweeting fad ain't going away. So, we're going to roll with it and go Twitter crazy!

Anyway, here's two ideas from Uniqlo that use Twitter. The first is 'Lucky Counter', and it's ace. Before the start of their sale they allowed customers to discount their clothing. But how? I hear you all cry.

Well, all a customer had to do was Retweet the clothing promotion and the price went down by 0.001 p. It's great and oozes the 'share factor' as you want more people to Retweet so you can get cheaper clothes.

The second is UTweet and this seems to just mash your Tweets with Uniqlo fashion. Not as good but interesting to watch.

And as a treat to end this post. Here's the new Kings of Leon Track Radioactive. It's going to be a new anthem!

If any of you are into advertising, I'm sure a few of you guys are. You should check out Ben Kay's blog.

His opinions are great and he says it how it is. And he's funny and very good at writing.

He also took the reigns from Scamp (RIP) as the main creative blog most creatives visit.

Anyway, these were on his blog and though they were quite funny. Below is when advertising is good. And as a extra special treat there's an interview with Megan Fox looking all hot. Enjoy.

A Creative Team worth following

Lissie's Cuckoo interactive music video

No, not us. But a team that work for Sony's music label.

Steve Milbourne and Phil Clandillon have done some really cool stuff recently. We've mentioned their google street view mash up for the band The Editors. But their most recent piece of work is for a new artist called Lissie. You can change the weather in her music video by clicking on a google map below. The edits between the weather changes are cleverly covered with clips of a weather man. Take a look at it in action here.

What's great about their recent bits of work is that it shows how open googles API is, and the scope of what can be done. If you're interested in seeing more of what can be done using googles API just go their goollery.

However, that's not it from Steve and Phil.

They also did this cool viral for Guitar Hero and Kasabian... and Umbro. Three brands in one go... back of the net!

They also did this interesting video for AC/DC using Excel.

Plus this cool use of women covered in paint for Calvin Harris.

It's all impressive stuff, and every piece of work has a nice interactive/digital twist which really gives them a niche. We're sure a lot of new artist will go to them in the future to get some cut through in the already crowded music industry.

Their work is all here. And there's a good article from Andrew McMillen about them here.

Follow (not stalk!) Steve Milbourne here and Phil Clandillon here. We are.

The After Hours Athlete

Puma Socials website

This is a nice idea from Puma which salutes the after hours athletes. Bowling, ping pong, arcades and darts all get a mention.

The TV ad is nicely shot. However, they are yet to roll out all of the website, so all you can do is sign up for info. Let's hope there's some good online content to come.

Take a look at the site here.

Also, check this stuff out for Puma running.

Get yourself some Bolt arms for the up and coming Olympics.

And have a go at racing Usain Bolt with your fingers here. It looks a bit low budget, but is fun enough for a couple of races. Race Bolt here.

On the subject of music...

Autotune the news have hit the back of the net with this song based on a news story in the states. A women woke up in bed with a man who snuck in during the night. Very weird to start with but it just gets better when the auto tune is added.

It's definately worth subscribing to their channel on the tube of you.

Swearing is cool

Reggie Watts - "Fuck Shit Stack"

Funny video from Reggie Watts. Don't watch it if you hate music and hate swearing. However if you love music and love swearing. Watch away.

Print ad post...WTF!!!

Yes boys and girls. We still like the old school stuff just as much as the digital.

Bikes, Bikes, Bikes

Team Sky

Look Mum. No hands cafe

I am Precious website

London is going bike crazy at the moment. The cycle highway is up and running, the hire scheme is here and there are loads of Skyrides happening soon. Plus there is a brand new British pro cycling team in the form of Team Sky.

So this post today is going to be bike related. We've already mentioned the Nike Chalkbot from the Tour de France so we won't repost that one, however we have found these pedal powered related things...

Team Sky

A brand new British team that is gaining popularity more and more. David Brailsford (Head of GB cycling) has decided that he wants to conquer road racing. And with the like of Bradley Wiggins in the squad he is bound to achieve this soon.

The website is put together nicely with not much advertising from Sky. Fans can stay up to date with every race with their race centre and see the latest videos and pictures.

Team Sky have actually just signed a deal with Map my Tracks, which means real time training data may be made available to fans, and for bike geeks this is very cool. Google did something similar with the team HTC Columbia during the Tour de France. It's finished now, but you can still see how it looked here.

They have also become popular on Facebook. Mainly because they want to be very involved with the fans.

The Team Sky website is here.

Look Mum. No hands!

This is a nice cafe near us that lets you take your bike in and have a coffee.

One of the problems with cycling around the city is the chance of having your bike stolen, even if you do lock it up. So, to get round this Look Mum, no hands cafe has decided to be cyclist friendly and let you park it inside the shop. There's lots going on as well such as guest appearances from Pro Cyclists, like Michael Barry (Team Sky) and meet ups for bike rides around London.

The location on google is here.

I am Precious

Janeen is riding her bike (called Precious) across America for the Livestrong foundation. Livestrong is Lance Armstrongs charity, hence the bike link.

The clever thing about this idea is that they have put sensors on every part of the bike. Speed, cadence, gradient, terrain etc are all tracked, and then nicely visualised as a virtual bike. The bike also tweets as if it were human. The site is here.

Old Spice rules the TV and the internet

After winning the Grand Prix with an advert that is clever and dare i say it... original (no youtube references found for this one!!) now releases their second TV spot and takes the internet by storm.

The follow up is just as good as the first and has line that equals the comedy value of "I'm on a horse".

However, it's what they did next which is really clever. Seeing all the comments they were getting for the adverts and their 'Perfect Man' character, they decided to get the Old Spice 'Perfect man' to reply to some of them. The amazing thing is all the responses were by video.

The Old Spice 'Perfect Man' spent all of yesterday making personal video responses to some of his fans. There were 87 in total. He replied to Tweets, forum threads, youtube comments and even made a marriage proposal for someone.

All the scripts are really good considering they would have all be written in a few minutes before filming. Hats off to all involved.

The marriage proposal

Celebrities even got a mention. Including Alyssa Milano and Demi Moore.

Their prop fish made it into quite a few responses. The props used were really funny.

This is the last one of the day and they are still going strong.

Watch all of them on the Old Spice Youtube channel.

There's more on it here. And also read about how they did this here.

Favourite ideas from Cannes so far..

Andes Teletransporter

This is for Andes Beer by the agency Del Campo/Saatchi & Saatchi Argentina. They actually created soundproof booths in loud bars that allowed men to select sound effects to play when their girlfriends called. Simple and the award video is genuinely funny.

Nike Chalkbot

Chalking the roads at the Tour de France is a tradition. Livestrong and Nike created the Chalkbot so everyone could write a message of inspiration for the riders as they raced past.

Gatorade Replay

This beats everything this year as far as i'm concerned. It's a great concept that just worked everywhere. Apparently there is a film in the pipe line. Predicting the titanium for this one on Saturday.

Best world cup idea so far

Nike have taken their 'Write the future' line into digital and mobile by letting fans actually write a headline about the player who they think will make their mark at the tournament. Then, it's displayed on the biggest building in Johannesburg. The projection is about the size of half a football pitch.

Fans simply choose their player and then write a headline via Facebook, Twitter or with the mobile application. Then Nike chooses the best 1oo and displays them throughout the night.

It's apparently that Nike were determined to be make a big impact during the World Cup and with their epic advert and this, i think they've Just Done it.

They might as well just give the awards for this one early.

A little something for the world cup

We quickly did this for Magners so it could go live for the start of the World Cup.

Magners are supporting the nations that play against France. Since it was France who knocked Ireland out in less than fair circumstances. So today it's all about Uruguay.

If you haven't seen why Ireland aren't at the World Cup, take a look below.

The facebook page is here.
